The UU Pacific Southwest Institute for Religious Liberals
(PSWIRL)
will have their annual mountain retreat at de Benneville
Pines,
Angelus Oaks, California from Sunday, August 11 through
Friday,
August 16. This Camp and Conference Center is owned and
operated by
the Unitarian Universalist Pacific Southwest
District. It is
located at 6,800 feet altitude in the San
Bernardino National Forest
among towering Ponderosa pines, oaks
and cedars with a creek nearby,
and Jenks Lake within walking
distance. It has an Olympic-size
heated swimming pool as well as
a large hot tub. Fresh,
nutritionally balanced meals are served,
with vegetarian meals on
request.
The theme speaker is Jim Conn, minister of the Santa Monica's
Church
in Ocean Park for the past 22 years. His theme is
"Reweaving the
fabric of our lives: our communities, our
relationships, our
souls". In addition, there will be a large
selection of workshops
including personal growth, writing, folk
dancing, sexual
enhancement, yoga and meditation, massage, puppet
making,
sing-along, water color and drawing, hiking and nature
walks, talk
backs, movement, etc. For the first time, the
astronomy workshop
will also include observation of the Perseid
meteor shower.
Costs range from $245 - $300, depending on the type of
accommodation
selected, and include all meals and workshops.
